Each of the modules in Essential Strips looks for registration information in the “Control Strip Preferences” file when it starts up. If no registration information is found, the module will “time out” 10 minutes after startup. If registration information is found, the module works the entire time the computer is on. The registration information is unique to each registered user, so as to discourage violations of the License Agreement.
This means two great things for registered users. (1) Registered users may give out the modules (but not their Registration Disk or “Control Strip Preferences” file or other copies of the registration information) to their friends, coworkers, etc. as described in the License Agreement. (2) Upgrades are easy and free. Simply download new versions of Essential Strips as they become available. When you install the new modules in your “Control Strip Modules” folder and restart your computer, they will recognize your registration.
Furthermore, all registered users will be notified by e-mail or fax when new versions of Essential Strips become available. As the 2/95 version of Essential Strips is being released, there are already three more modules in the works, with release expected by April, 1995.
